Local Solid Waste Management Plan (LSWMP)
This area is devoted to OCRRA's Local Solid Waste Management Plan (LSWMP). A LSWMP, affectionately pronounced " L-Swamp," is a NYSDEC required document, developed by planning units like OCRRA, that outline our plan to manage solid waste (meaning trash, recycling and special wastes) in our community in the future.
OCRRA believes that community involvement in developing this plan is essential. We need your feedback on the system (or what we like to call a “plethora of disposal and recycling services”) that we currently provide you and what you would like it to look like in the future.
Developing a LSWMP starts with forecasting how much trash and recycling we think our community will generate in the coming years. These forecasts are tricky to develop. While it is true that as disposable income increases, so do disposables (like trash and recycling), there does not appear to be a leading indicator on economic activity that reliably predicts trash tonnage.
Below are our best attempts at fortune-telling. Please email us and let us know if you have other ideas on how to predict this tonnage or thoughts you'd like included in the LSWMP.

Check back in the future, we will be adding new documents as we develop them!
