in the OCRRA Service Area
(includes all of Onondaga County, but excludes the
Town and Village of Skaneateles, NY).
You must also have a reservation.
* During OCRRA's Special Events at Ley Creek (Household Hazardous Waste and Propane/Air Conditioner Days), the transfer station does NOT accept trash or recyclables, it is only open to accept special event items.

NOTE: Latex paint is NO longer accepted at Household Hazardous Waste Days.
To dispose of small amounts of leftover latex paint, leave the container in a well-ventilated area until the paint is completely dried out. Mix in cat litter if there is too much to air dry.
Another option is to use paint hardening crystals, which work similarly to cat litter. Visit the Community Collection Center (C3) during normal hours of operation and get up to 2 free paint hardening crystal packets from OCRRA. Each 3.5 oz. packet will dry up about 2/3 of a gallon of paint. Limited quantities are available, so stop out while supplies last!
Once paint is solidified, put the entire container in the trash (remove lid before disposing).
PLEASE NOTE: For the beauty of the community, do not put paint cans in the trash that contain liquid paint. This creates a mess on the streets during the collection process.

Preparing for OCRRA's Household Hazardous Waste Day
1) Place all items, including paint cans, in cardboard boxes. Use newspaper or cardboard to keep items from tipping over or hitting each other. Wrap leaking items in newspaper and put in a plastic bag. Tighten all caps.
2) Avoid exposure to potentially hazardous vapors. Ventilate your car if storing household hazardous materials in your vehicle prior to drop off. Do NOT smoke while transporting materials. We want you to arrive safely.
3) When at the event, please stay in your vehicle at all times.
4) For safety reasons, please, no smoking while at the event and if possible leave children and pets at home.
5) Keep household batteries within easy reach of the driver as they will be collected separately.
6) Do not bring any trash or other items for disposal. Only household hazardous waste will be accepted during the collection.
